Progress in the garden
I’m very pleased to say that my garden is flourishing (for the most part). I was absolutely convinced that NOTHING would grow. That would just be my luck with plants, but it’s actually doing quite nicely. The only thing that didn’t come up was my chives, which I planted twice and they didn’t come up either time. So I finally broke down yesterday and bought 3 chives plants at the greenhouse and stuck them in my garden. They look right at home as if they’d been there all along (bottom right hand corner of the picture above)!
This below is my very first cuttings of lettuce. We had some of it on our sandwiches for lunch today and it was so yummy and fresh! The spinach should be ready to cut in the next day or two. Yay!
Now I’m just waiting for fresh tomatoes (this plant has 25+ tomatoes on it).
I’ve never grown cabbage before…oh, wait, I’ve never grown anything before, LOL! Okay, but my mom has never grown cabbage before, so this is a very new experience for us. It’s kind of perky and cute : )
I think the thing I’m most proud of with my garden, other than that everything is growing, is that it reminds me of my Grandma’s garden. She always had flowers along with her vegetables and I decided to do that, too. I’m so happy I did, because it makes for such a pretty sight. Even though my Grandma doesn’t garden anymore, hopefully I can pass along the legacy of gardens to my kids. 
This is an awesome new breed of flower that I found this year. It looks like a cross between a Gazania and an Osteopermum. Such a lovely color.
Looks beautiful! I can see it flourish through my window. Can’t wait to try all the fresh veggies. Enjoy!

Congratulations! My garden’s coming along too — though from no help from me. Greg’s actually been the one doing all the weeding, hoeing (?) and tilling this year. I’m jealous that your tomato plants have tomatoes already. You must have bought your plants at a more mature stage than mine were. Dang, I hate the waiting. And the picking and preserving in fall. Yeah, I know, why exactly do I even HAVE a garden?!

I LOVE YOUR GARDEN! And I am completely jealous
I didn’t plant one this yr because I went into the spring thinking maybe we’d sell the house. Thank goodness we DID but when we move, we won’t have a garden in the new house, too. But I look forward to next year! I will just live my gardening passion through you (and Alexis) this year!

That garden is awesome and I look forward to having one. There is absolutely nothing like homegrown tomatoes, mmhh yummy.
It must feel special to eat something knowing it came right out of your own garden.
I like that you incorporated flowers and it is something special to pass on to the girls.
