Halloween costume contest (as in prizes for you and you don’t have to dress up)

I’m getting more excited by the hour. We’re down to the last couple days before my trip to visit my sweet friend Val! I’m trying to help her with some party planning from here (she’s having a big halloween/housewarming party the day after I get there). It’s going to be so much fun! I get to dress up for this party…should be interesting since I haven’t put a halloween costume together for myself for 10 years. I had a couple of ideas, but it will depend on what I find for costume pieces. Anyone have any fabulous ideas for me? Please, give me some and who knows maybe I’ll use one of them. I’d be forever indebted to you! Let’s make it a contest to see who has the best idea. I’ll even have a prize. You know you all love prizes. They have to be serious ideas that I could actually pull off. You’ve got 24 hours. Giddyup!

  1. hmmmm….
why not copy our good friend joyce. she always has these wild parties which end up being magnificent occasions to recycle old fashions. last fall she had a
    -ugly sweater party.
    in spring she had a
-spring bridal show (featuring the very best the 80’s ever brought us)
and in a couple weeks she’s throwng a
    -cougar party (use your imagination)

i have the very finest in 80’s jewellry if your interested.

hehehe. come on erin — i know you’ve always wanted FEATHERED HAIR. be bold!

    ;)

  2. Some of the pictures of you on this site are pretty scary-why not just go as yourself?

It’s deadly cheap, and yes, you’re welcome.

  4. How about Scarlett O’Hara? You could borrow my wedding dress as I was about your size when I got married! You could have all your hair up on top of your head with ringlettes coming down, oh you would look so beautiful!

  8. I’m incredibly unimaginitive in this area. Sorry. If Tara’s willing to lend you her wedding dress, I’m voting for Scarlett. I think that’d be awesome! I’m really looking forward to your posts and pictures from the party and from your visit with Val.

  10. I’m clueless, as you know, because I’m a witch. How creative is THAT? not very! so many people aren’t telling us what they are because they want it to be a surprise! I have a feeling there may be some pretty fine competition for my party prizes!!

  11. To maybe stimulate some ideas with others, here’s what some others are doing :

One girl wants to be “blond” since she never has been, so she’s wearing a blond wig and I’m not sure what else.

    I am a witch; Neil a pirate.

One girl is a bumble bee.

Anyone know the show, Reno 911? One guy is renting his costume from a fabulous costume shop . . . he will be one of the police officers (I forget his name) who wears the short-shorts and slicks his hair back and has geeky glasses. It should be HYSTERICAL!

I’ve had a handful tell me they aren’t telling me what they are.

I love the Scarlet idea . . . you’d look fabulous! I had thought about being a black cat, and I have ears for it. I was going to wear black yoga pants and a black shirt, make whiskers and have a tail (I also have the tail!). That’s my only other idea. I’m not too creative when it comes to costumes.

I still like your original idea, too!
