I went shopping yesterday all by myself. No rugrats. No complaining hubby. Just me. How lovely is that?!? I left at 5:00 p.m (the minute Jer walked in the door) and I didn’t come home until like 10:30. It was so fabulous. I wandered the mall for 2 1/2 hours and looked for a dress to wear to the opera. I searched and searched, tried on about 20 different dresses, perused about 10 different stores and finally found 2. I tried one on. Then the other. Then the first again. No decision was coming to me. So I did what any good woman would do…bought both with the intentions of bringing back the one that I don’t choose, of course. Like THAT’S going to happen! And I felt like such a good mennonite girl because they were both on sale. So really, I’m saving money, right? I feel so good in both of them. By the time I got home I was pretty sure which one I would wear to the opera, but now after trying them on a few more times, I haven’t made up my mind. I’ll wait until Rachelle gets here and see what she’s wearing, then decide. I could even change my mind a few times on the night of the opera. My prerogative. I’m a woman.
Dress 1 – the one I thought for sure I would wear…it’s a little fancier, has a small crinoline (which seems to be all the rage this year) and a small piece of netting sticking out the bottom (also out in full force in the fashion world). It fits like a glove and feels so feminine on. LOVE it! It’s Jer’s pick for me to wear to the opera. It looks a lot prettier in real life, Jer’s taking the pictures, so it may not be the best angle, but eventually I just had to settle for a picture because he had to go back to work…NO, I didn’t pull him away from work to take pictures of me. He was home on his lunch break.
Dress 2 – super sexy, slinky, so comfy. I feel beautiful in both of them. Makes it kind of hard to choose. I told Jer to cut my head out of the pictures because my hair is all greasy and yucky. Kind of takes away from the dress : ) Not to mention, I was all self conscious and didn’t know how to pose, so I look all awkward and…Okay, dress 2…
I think they are both neither too dressy or too simple. I can wear either of them again to weddings, or parties, or around the house to do my cleaning, cause I do that sometimes, you know. The shoes too! Way more fun to mop floors in stilettos! Oooh, speaking of shoes, I found a pair of shoes on sale yesterday online and ordered them for $24.00. What a steal! I don’t know if they will look good with the dresses, or even fit me, but they were too fun to pass up. And they have 4″ heels. Happy, happy sigh!! So very happy : )
Cute, no? If you haven’t already guessed, I LOVE them! Dearly. I’m working my way up to owning 12 whole pairs (as opposed to 12 partial pairs?) of shoes all at the same time and I think this would put me at 8 (if we’re including winter boots, one pair of runners and a pair of flip flops). What kind of woman am I? Not to worry, I will rectify the situation this year. If I have anything to say about the matter…which I would since I’m the one who has to shop for them…I will own more than 12 pairs by the end of the summer. Just you wait!!

I vote the 2nd dress. I love the cut.
Besides if you keep both, you’ll have more reasons to need MORE shoes. You need a pair for each dress, RIGHT?!?

Hey Erin
They are both beautiful! Way to go!!
LOVE the shoes, kinda like my white ones and I love the 4 inches!!
Great picks all of them! You’ll look fabulous!

Oooo, I can’t choose! They are both so dang hot! Everybody’s going to be watching you instead of the opera!
April 9th, 2008 at 3:40 pm
Both dresses are really pretty, my preference is #2.
I’m not a shoe person at all. All I have is two pairs of shoes and two pairs of cheap flip flops! I would like more, but alas…kids come first!

CUTE shoes. I say both dresses(am I such a good friend or what?)
So what opera? I’ve only met one other opera patron online, and she was a music major in school.
Hubby and I LOVE the opera.

Love, love, looooove!
The first is the classier of the two, and the second has that kind of flirty kick to it. For me, it would totally depend on my mood, I think, but I’d lean more towards the first for an occasion like the opera.
Email ya later – mwah!

I’m all for the first one.But then I’m not much for asymmetry. (sp?) And speaking of a wedding where you would have to wear your new dress…..;)

They are both fabulous, but I have to say I really like dress #2 . And I agree with whoever said keeping both means needing MORE shoes!

Hey there!
How are you girlie girl?
Ok here’s my vote. Assuming I get one!
I love both but I really like the second on you. It just seems to fit so nicely and it is very flattering. The first is, of course, a keeper and well if your man likes it that means a lot.
I hope you have fun at the opera. I must say I am a tad bit envious. I love any sort of performance theatre.
Take care of you.

OH- I love those shoes. SO much!
My vote is for the second dress. But they are both super cute.
April 9th, 2008 at 10:15 pm
I like the 2nd one best!
April 9th, 2008 at 10:33 pm
I know you didn’t exactly ask for my opinion but I am going with majority here and voting for #2. I like pink. Only lately since I tend to be tom-boyish. Shoes are great. I wear them everyday
I have also started to expand my dressy shoe fetish, as opposed to my flip-flop collection!
Can you share some linky love when you enlighten us on your good menno shopping deals/skill? If not that is fine too…

I was going to say you could wear one of the dresses to Jenene’s wedding but she beat me to it.
I love the 2nd one!!!
Love the shoes!!
Hey, if you ever want to go shoe shopping you know who to call. Heck, if you ever want a partner to SHOP in general, give me a call.
You’re gorgeous!!

bless Jer for baby sitting
how wonderful for you
love the dresses and the shoes
April 10th, 2008 at 8:33 am
I’d go with the first dress but they are both darling!
April 10th, 2008 at 10:10 am
I’m a polka dot girl, so I my vote is for dress number 1, but they are both great!!!
Love the shoes too!
April 10th, 2008 at 11:14 am
Dress number 2! Dress one is pretty, but I think it says more daytime activity than opera. Dress two screams night out.
April 10th, 2008 at 11:29 am
They BOTH look so great on you! I must admit, I’m leaning more toward the second because it’s more of an evening style IMHO. But the polka dots are really pretty too. And the shoes, to die for. 4″ … wow, I don’t think I could have ever walked in those, even when I was in my 20s.
If it were me, yup, I’d keep them both.
Came by via CK. You’ve got a great blog!

I love them both, but I’m also leaning toward the second one for the opera. And the shoes are awesome!
April 10th, 2008 at 11:16 pm
love ‘em both. 2nd one for the opera (hawt, hawt hawt), first one for Nene’s wedding (cute and pretty). How do you wear shoes like that. My feet cry in anything over 21/2″.
April 10th, 2008 at 11:46 pm
looking good Erin! Love the dresses!!
Hey thanks for stopping by! It’s been a while…
April 11th, 2008 at 7:45 am
i say dress two as well… love the shoes, think you are crazy about the heel height though…
April 11th, 2008 at 11:26 am
Dress #2. Definitely. Both are cute, but my preference is the second. Those shoes are awesome!
April 12th, 2008 at 10:10 am
They are both so pretty & you look great in either … my personal best is #2, but I think you should keep both!! And the shoes are fabulous!!!!
