Shake What Your Momma Gave You!
In a last ditch efforts to keep losing weight for this biggest loser competition, I joined a fitness class. Â It was called belly fit. Â Should have clued in that it would be a belly dancing class.
Oh yes…you heard that right. Â Belly dancing. Â Me.
*pause*
You all done laughing now?? Â Okay, so I actually really, really, really loved it! Â I was so sad that today was the last class. Â We got to learn a choreographed dance with little jingly skirts and all. Â It was fabulous!
Now I don’t have the most, um, seductive figure out there to belly dance with, but who cares, right? Â And yes, sometimes I looked a bit like I was having a seizure (or taking a dump, as Nikki seemed to think), especially when trying to shimmy.
I can’t shimmy to save my life. Â I practiced. Â I really did. Â I would stand in front of the mirror and try and try to shake what my momma gave me and it just.wouldn’t.shake!!!
But it’s over, so what now? Â How about a hip hop class? Â I’ve always, always wanted to learn hip hop, but been too scared to bust out of my box and try something new. Â Well…haha, I’ve done belly dancing, so there isn’t much out there that frightens me anymore! Â Kind of has a way of letting go of some of your inhibitions. Â Perhaps some that should have stayed in the box, but whatever. Â :)

I’ve wanted to take a belly dancing class for ages! Now that I have a super duper belly though – I’m not sure I’d be so brave
Hip Hop classes are great fun. HARD! But very fun

I used to belly dance right up until I started having hip problems from it (do I sound old or what?) I really really enjoyed it though. I think the worse you are, the more fun it is.
Do the hip hop! I can’t wait to hear about that one!

I LOVE shimmy! I tape a show on the fitness network and do that sometimes!!! It’s fun to do different things like that….
I totally think you should do a pole dancing class next..LOL!

LOL! I bought a belly dancing DVD. It’s harder than it looks. But yes, it does work the whole body.

Sounds like fun! I took a hip hop class for 6 months before I had Kiera (I was 3 months pregnant at the end of it) and I LOVED it! I say, “Go for it!”

I CAN TOTALLY RELATE TO THE INABILITY TO SHAKE WHAT YOUR MOMMA GAVE YA! My hips just don’t do that motion for some unknown reason! You aren’t alone!
