There really is practically nothing like an outdated household recipe – with its familiar tastes and smells – to deliver somebody back in time.

Today’s recipe – this tasty Filipino Picadillo – is a family members recipe from our friend Virna. She was born and raised in the Philippines and later settled in the United States during health care school. Virna is a significant foodie herself – so when she raves about a dish like this Filipino Picadillo – the two Jack and I consider notice!

Virna grew up eating this Filipino Picadillo. It was a dish that her father cooked for their family usually – and these days, when Virna tends to make it for her personal family members, it brings back fond memories of her dad.

As Jack manufactured this fantastic recipe to share right here on A Household Feast – he consulted Virna all along the way to make confident we recreated an genuine Filipino Picadillo. (I hope we did the recipe proud Virna!)

This one particular pan skillet meal is excellent for a swift weeknight meal – and any leftovers reheat flawlessly for a second meal the subsequent day! Virna suggests eating this picadillo with a tiny sizzling sauce on leading, but it’s equally delicious served on its own.
